Fine lines and wrinkles that form due to facial movements can be treated by Botox. The areas typically treated are frown lines ("elevens") between the eyebrows, forehead lines, and crows' feet. Botox can be used as a preventative to stop the formation of deep lines or as a corrective measure to erase them. A treatment of Botox typically takes less than 10 minutes. Botox involves a small, relatively painless injection. It is recommended to avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours and avoid pressure and massage to the area treated for 4 hours following the procedure. Although rare, bruising can occur after treatment.

Other than that, there is typically no downtime following Botox and it is considered a "lunchtime" treatment. Results can typically be seen in 5-7 days. The number of units needed to treat each area can vary widely from person to person.
